Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons sesame oil
  • ½ tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 cups cooked white rice or brown rice
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • ½ cup sliced cucumbers
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli

Method

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef, breaking it apart, until browned. Drain extra grease if needed.
  2. Stir in garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar (if using), and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir to coat the beef. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened and glossy.
  5. Serve the beef over warm rice and top with green onions, sesame seeds, and optional veggies.

Notes

  • Serve over rice, noodles, or in lettuce wraps for a lighter option.
  • Add veggies like broccoli, cucumbers, or shredded carrots for extra crunch and balance.
  • Swap ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, or pork.
  • Make it spicier with sriracha, gochujang, or extra red pepper flakes.
  • Stores well for meal prep: refrigerate up to 4 days or freeze beef up to 2 months.
