Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 cups cooked steamed rice
  • chopped green onions or sesame seeds

Method

  1. Prepare all vegetables by washing and slicing the onion, bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots. Mince the garlic.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Dissolve the cornstarch in water and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about five to seven minutes. Remove beef and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté garlic and onions for one to two minutes. Add bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots, stir-frying for four to five minutes until crisp-tender.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet with vegetables. Pour in the sauce and stir to coat. Add the cornstarch mixture and stir until the sauce thickens, one to two minutes.
  6. Serve over steamed rice and optionally garnish with green onions or sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Use fresh vegetables for the best texture and flavor.
  • Avoid overcooking the vegetables to keep them crisp-tender.
  • Add red pepper flakes or sriracha for a spicy variation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
  • Swap ground beef with turkey, chicken, tofu, or tempeh for alternative protein options.
