Method
- Wash and dice the potatoes into bite-sized cubes and slice the smoked sausage.
- Boil the diced potatoes for 5–7 minutes until slightly tender.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream, milk, melted butter, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Combine potatoes, sausage, and the creamy mixture in a baking dish or skillet.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly and potatoes are golden.
- Garnish with green onions or parsley and serve.
Notes
- Parboiling potatoes helps achieve a crispy outside and soft inside.
- Freshly shredded cheese melts better than pre-packaged.
- Use low-sodium ingredients or Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
- Can add chicken, vegetables, or spice for variation.
